Air Cargo Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
- Explore the air cargo sector through expert-led lectures, case studies, and immersive site visits, covering key topics like air cargo operations, sustainability, data standards, and the global aviation ecosystem
- Course offered as an ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Programme with online and on-campus components
The Air Cargo Blended Intensive Program (BIP) offers an in-depth exploration of the air cargo sector within the broader logistics domain. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the air cargo industry through a combination of academic lectures, expert guest talks, and immersive site visits. Key subject areas include an introduction to air cargo, the aviation ecosystem encompassing airlines, airports, and air traffic control, as well as the roles of relevant institutions. Students will also delve into air cargo process management, sustainability practices in aviation, and the importance of data standards in both aviation and air cargo operations.
Throughout the program week, participants will engage in a dynamic mix of learning formats. These include lectures, a teaching case study, and guest lectures by industry experts, offering real-world insights and professional perspectives. A group project will foster collaboration and critical thinking, with results presented in a poster session on the final day. A guided airport visit will provide firsthand exposure to air cargo operations. In addition to academic activities, social events will encourage networking and cultural exchange among participants, creating a well-rounded and engaging learning experience.
The assessment for the BIP Air Cargo is based on active participation in both the online sessions and the in-person program. To successfully complete the course, students are expected to engage fully in all scheduled activities. During the in-person component, participants will work collaboratively in teams on a teaching case. Their task is to develop a solution and present it in the form of a poster, which will be pitched to peers and instructors on the final day. This collaborative effort, along with consistent participation, forms the basis for the pass-fail evaluation.
The course schedule will be made available soon.
BIP Air Cargo is open to students in Master's programs or in the final year of a Bachelor's program. It is expected that students will possess fundamental knowledge of logistics and supply chain management, as well as a keen interest in air cargo.
The course is open to students from Frankfurt UAS, Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (UPPA), Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA), and all U!REKA partner universities.
Maximum capacity for the course is 40 participants.
Students will earn a total of 3 ECTS points for the successful completion of the course.
A single ECTS point is defined as the equivalent of 25-30 hours of student workload, which includes class hours, readings, preparation for class activities, as well as assessment measures.
